Austria has established a strong research foundation in quantum physics, but the innovative ideas developed in this context are not as frequently translated into industry as in other countries. As one of the largest quantum hubs in Europe, the VCQ is committed to raising awareness about this issue and promoting a culture shift, while supporting technology transfer for quantum researchers in Austria.

By facilitating the transition of quantum innovations from the lab to the marketplace, we aim to harness the full potential of our research to benefit industry, economy, and society at large. Technology transfer is crucial for producing tangible societal benefits, generating profit to fund further research and development, and creating more career opportunities for scientists, ultimately keeping talent in Austria.

The VCQ aims to support quantum technology transfer by providing researchers with the necessary tools, knowledge, and support. We strive to foster an entrepreneurial culture among researchers, encouraging them to think commercially. In collaboration with Entrepreneurship @ Uni Vienna we coordinate workshops, offer training and mentorship to help researchers develop business skills. Our efforts also include building a strong quantum technology ecosystem through collaboration between academia, industry, incubators, investors, and the government. With these initiatives, we aim to enhance global competitiveness, positioning Austria as a leader in the global quantum tech landscape.
