Why April 14th? 

The World Quantum Day is celebrated on April 14, a reference to 4.14, the rounded first digits of Planck’s constant: 4.135667696×10−15 eV.s = 0,000 000 000 000 004 135667696 electronvolt second, a product of energy and time that is the fundamental constant governing quantum physics. Why is Planck’s constant so important? Did you know it is used to define the kilogram? And, otherwise, how does it affect our lives? These are some of the questions, among many others, that will be addressed by the World Quantum Day activities.

]]> Monday, 9 October 2023, Quantum Tech Session https://vcq.quantum.at/2023/10/03/quantum-tech-session/ Tue, 03 Oct 2023 08:05:06 +0000 https://vcq.quantum.at/?p=13488 The Quantum Tech Session will be organized by the Vienna Center for Quantum Science and Technology (VCQ) on October 9th (14:00-17:00).

The primary purpose of this event is to provide valuable insights to researchers, particularly Ph.D. students and postdocs, regarding opportunities related to quantum technology transfer, initiating start-ups, and pursuing careers in the industry. We will feature presentations by successful quantum start-ups that originated from our academic environment. Of particular interest is the presentation of Quantum Innovation Lab, a joint initiative by the Cluster of Excellence QuantA, VCQ, and the University of Vienna. This initiative aims to support researchers with training programs and resources to develop new spin-offs.
