Short biography Philip Walther

Philip Walther, born 1978 in Vienna, received 2005 his PhD in physics (with distinction) from the University of Vienna and 2002 his MSc in Chemistry (with distinction and below minimum study duration). In 2005 he joined the group of Prof. Mikhail Lukin as a postdoctoral researcher at the Harvard University, USA, until 2008. Since 2005 he has been a Senior Scientist for project linear-optical-quantum-computation at the Institute of Experimental Physics, University of Vienna. Since 2011 Philip Walther is Assistant Professor of Physics at the Faculty of Physics of the University of Vienna and since February 2013 Associate Professor. He is associated member of the Vienna Center for Quantum Science and Technology (VCQ) and a member of the American Physical Society, Chemical-Physical Society and the European Physical Society.

His research areas are quantum computing, quantum cloud computing, quantum simulation experiments, the investigation of quantum correlations as resource, the multi-photon generation and manipulation and light-matter interactions.
