We review the various motivations behind this undertaking, and their link with open questions concerning quantum gravity. We then consider two specific issues. First, we study the relationships between black hole no-hair theorems and non-linear effects in transonic flows in atomic BEC. Second, we discuss the possibility of assessing the non-separable character of the phonon state by observing the density correlation function in BEC. We explain why commuting measurements can be sufficient.
