Searching for Wave-particle Duality in Modified Bouncing-ball Models

In analogy to the experimental system studied by Couder et al. [1–6], two generalized bouncing-ball models are developed, implemented, and subsequently investigated. While it is not possible to observe evi- dence for the presence of wave-particle duality in these models, further insight is gained as regards the necessary requirements that cause the special behaviour in the experimental system. The particle ought to be on resonance with respect to the frequency of the medium, and the en- ergy for the changes in the trajectory of the particle must be provided locally by the wave field. The general relation to the problem of hidden variables is also discussed.
