Strain-mediated coupling in a quantum dot-mechanical oscillator hybrid system

Abstract: In this seminar I will talk about the experiment realized at the Néel Institute in Grenoble, where we coupled the mechanical oscillation modes of a microfabricated optical waveguide to a two-level quantum system, namely a quantum dot embedded on the waveguide. I will discuss how we performed the measurements allowing the zero-point coupling strength (g0) to be calculated and present possible developments based on the high value of g0 we encountered.
